Manufacturer of paper goods products Georgia-Pacific, parent company to brands like Quilted Northern, Brawny, Dixie, and Vanity Fair, is using generative AI capabilities to inform manufacturing decision-making.

By streamlining analytics and adopting intelligent decision management tools, the company has tapped into sensor data, business rules, and recommender systems to quickly determine next steps within manufacturing.

Roshan Shah, vice president, collaboration and support center, Georgia-Pacific, said the technology from SAS is helping the company capture immediate value by making the right decisions as events occur.

Through the partnership, Georgia-Pacific has gained access to AI and ML-powered qualitative decisioning flow tools, data anonymization and encryption, natural language processing, and data governance tools.

Consumer goods companies are increasingly seeing the value of predictive, AI-powered decision-making.

According to a new report from Relex, 27% of surveyed CPG and retail respondents reported pain points of slow and misaligned planning cycles, and 79% of CPGs said day-level planning is crucial to accurately forecast and respond to consumer demands.
