Welch's Picks SaaS TMS for Improved Visibility

3/5/2014
Welch’s implements Transplace’s proprietary transportation management system (TMS) to manage daily transportation operations in North America. Transplace’s software-as-a-solution (SaaS) TMS is expected to provide reduced transportation costs, increased visibility and greater operational efficiencies.
Since 1869, Welch’s has been a producer of Concord grape juice. In 1952, Welch’s became a subsidiary of the National Grape Cooperative and is now owned by more than 1,000 family farmers. In addition to its successful line of fruit juices, the company also manufactures jams, jellies and other fruit products.

“For more than 140 years, Welch’s has been able to provide consumers with quality grape-based products and deliver quality service for our suppliers and customers,” says John Mancinelli, director, customer operations, Welch’s. “In order for us to continue our success, we need the right tools that align with our company goals. Transplace has a deep understanding of consumer product goods companies, and is able to deliver innovative technology that drives operational efficiency and cost savings. As a result, we have increased visibility of supply chain activities and can better serve our growing customer base.”

Using Transplace’s TMS, Welch’s can plan and execute all inbound and outbound shipments across North America. Additionally, Welch’s will be able to identify and take advantage of key areas of improvement and savings opportunities based on Transplace’s analysis of rate compression, accessorial savings, routing guide compliance and truckload and intermodal conversion.
