3M Debuts Mobile App to Digitize Post-it Notes

3M recently launched a mobile application for Android devices that lets users instantly capture, digitize and share Post-it Notes.

Using a smartphone's rear-facing camera, the Post-it app can capture up to 200 Post-it Notes at a time to store and edit, and allows users to create new digital notes in a variety of colors. The digitized notes can be individually moved, arranged and refined on boards that can be shared across teams, allowing anyone to move, add or group notes from the board. The app also creates a shareable record that can be exported to common software programs including PowerPoint, Excel, Dropbox and PDF. (See video below for more on the app's capabilities.)

“The Post-it Brand is committed to providing tools that help people express ideas and collaborate in a modern way," said Remi Kent, global business director, Post-it Brand, in a media release. "Now the Post-it App allows all of those ideas that are handwritten on Post-it Notes to be captured and easily transferred to digital tools so organization, sharing and ideation don’t have to end just because the meeting is over."

The brand created a similar app for iOS devices about five years ago. "Creating an Android version has been one of the top requests from consumers and we are excited to help fuel creativity and action for more users,” Kent said.
